Working to Promote Conservation

butterflies and bees in crisis
Human beings depend on the pollinators of nature, namely bees and butterflies for the food we eat and they don’t even realize it. Statistics say that 85% of the vegetables and fruits we eat are pollinated by these tiny creatures.
In recent years, bee and butterfly populations have suffered heavy losses due to parasites, pesticides, loss of habitat as well as severe weather. In fact, the 2024-2025 season experienced higher winter losses than any previous year.
Our goal is to enagage and educate others of the importance of protecting these populations and how regular homeowners and gardeners can help these colonies grow by doing simple things such as planting native plants. Just one plant can make a difference to these pollinators .
How You Can Help
No matter the climate you live in, desert or moderate there are ways to help these pollinators thrive. The is video, produced by a conservation group in Austin, Texas shows several ways the average backyard gardener can help grow the vital bee and butterfly populations recover.
